Horses And Antique Shopping

You never know what you might find when antique shopping! And that search is half the fun (maybe it’s most of the fun…). While shopping at the Brimfield Antique Show in Brimfield, MA (a HUGE 9-field outdoor show where you can’t possibly see everything in one day), I spotted a poster that instantly caught my attention. And for just $5, I snatched that poster, and while I found some other fun things that day, this little poster was my “treasure” for the day.

The reason I was so entralled with this little 11” x 17” poster? Back in 1972, the year of the advertised performance, I attended this show with my parents. That was a loooong time ago, but seeing the poster left no doubt that I had seen it. And I clearly remember during the show when a rider, on a Morgan Horse, came out and performed some basic dressage. I was a young child at the time and thought I knew everything about Morgans (and horses, of course), and I do remember critiquing the performance of the Morgan and what the announcer said about the breed. Perhaps that’s where my love of Morgans came from. Regardless, it’s a cool memory, and the fact that I now have a poster to remember that event makes it extra special.
