it’s book signing season

Yes, it’s that time of year again. Time for me (Ellen Feld) to hit the book signing circuit. Fall is the busiest time of the year at Willow Bend Publishing, and that means that getting out to public events is a great way to meet people and share my love of horses.

I’ve had a booth at an event almost every weekend since mid-October. Some are smaller events such as school craft fairs, while others are huge. A few weeks ago I was at Equine Affaire. I don’t know what the attendance was this year but in the past, through the four days, up to 100,000 people have strolled through the gates.

At Equine Affaire, I usually sign out of the Taborton Equine Books booth but they weren’t able to attend this year so I opted for my own booth. Having my own booth meant that I had to be there all four days from opening at 9 a.m. until closing at 7 p.m., with no breaks for meals, etc. Okay, I did manage to find someone to cover my booth so I could watch the Morgan demonstration. Among the group of riders were three young equestrians showcasing their expertise with their Morgans. Rimfire, the star of my book Rimfire: The Barrel Racing Morgan Horse and the forthcoming The Five-Dollar Horse was one of the demo horses. He and his rider, Blake, did an awesome job.

Back to the book signings. Equine Affaire was exhausting but so much fun. I met so many great people and was flattered to meet several parents who had read my Morgan series when they were young and were now picking up copies to share with their children. What a great feeling!

If you’re looking for some great gifts to put under that Christmas tree, consider one/several/all! of our books! You can’t go wrong with books!
